Ever wondered why one train may not look identical to another? A large train network as vast as ours requires a diverse range of trains. Some trains need to be fitted with onboard toilet facilities for longer trips while others may be single deck diesel trains for lines along less populated areas.

Millennium

Are air-conditioned and operate on the Bankstown, Inner West, Airport & East Hills and South lines.

Tangara
Sydney suburban 'Tangara'
Are air-conditioned and operate on all Sydney suburban lines.

L, R and S Set - Comeng type
Suburban carriages (L, R and S sets)
Operate on all Sydney suburban lines and local services on the South Coast Line.

C Set
Suburban carriages (C sets)
Are air-conditioned and operate on the Bankstown, Inner West, Airport & East Hills and South lines.

K Set
Suburban carriages (K sets)
Are air-conditioned and operate on the North Shore, Western and Northern lines and local services on the Newcastle & Central Coast Line.

Oscar

Are air-conditioned and operate beyond the Sydney suburban area to intercity destinations such as Wyong (Newcastle & Central Coast Line) and Kiama (South Coast Line).

Are air-conditioned and operate on intercity services to Newcastle (Newcastle & Central Coast Line), Lithgow (Blue Mountains Line) and Kiama (South Coast Line).
