Total on-time running for CityRail combines data for Suburban and Intercity lines. Regional lines are excluded from this calculation as these figures are based on trains that service the Sydney CBD.

Peak on-time running
Peak hour services are those arriving in the Sydney CBD between 6.00am and 9.00am and those departing the Sydney CBD between 4.00pm and 6.00pm from Monday to Friday. The final destination for morning peak services is Central Station, while the final destination during the afternoon peak is the last passenger destination for each service.

From 1 July 2005 the on-time running benchmark for suburban services is five minutes. Suburban data before that date refers to a benchmark of three minutes and 59 seconds.

From 1 July 2005 the on-time running benchmark for intercity services is six minutes. Intercity data before that date refers to a benchmark of five minutes and 59 seconds.
